These terms set out how you can you use our website: https://www.therapyowls.co.uk (and documents referred to in it).
Our liability
All of our therapists are self-employed and are individually regulated. Each therapist will enter into their own therapeutic contract formed between you and your chosen therapist.
Therapy Owls provides the technical platform and administrative services only. Therapy Owls will not accept liability for any loss or damage resulting from contact or work with the therapist. Any complaint against the therapist should be raised with the therapist in the first instance and, if necessary, escalated to their respective member organisation.
https://www.therapyowls.co.uk is a site operated by Therapy Owls (“We/Us”). We have our principal place of business at 10 Caledonian Road, Bristol, United Kingdom, BS1 6JW.
The affiliated counsellors, and therapists using our platform are all regulated by one or more of the following professional bodies:
- British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy
- British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies
- United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy
- National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society
Variations
We may revise these terms of use at any time by amending this page.
Changes to our site
We may update our site from time to time and may change the content at any time. We do not guarantee that our site, or any content on it, will be free from errors or omissions.
Access
Access to our site is free of charge, although online sessions provided by third-party software, such as Google Meet, Zoom or MS Teams, are charged for.
Access to our site is permitted on a temporary basis. We may suspend, withdraw, discontinue or change all or any part of our site without notice. If pre-arranged online services are disrupted we will use our reasonable endeavours to arrange an alternative consultation. In any event, our liability will be limited to the sums paid in advance in respect of the online consultation services.
No reliance
The information on our site does not replace, direct patient-health professional relationships. It is not intended to amount to advice on which you should rely or a tool for diagnosis.
Although we make reasonable efforts to update the information on our site, we make no representations, warranties or guarantees, whether express or implied, that the content on our site is accurate, complete or up-to-date.
You must obtain professional or specialist advice before taking, or refraining from, any action on the basis of the free content on our site.
Limitation of liability
Nothing in these terms of use excludes or limits our liability as prohibited by English law.
Each therapist has their own contract with you and those terms will govern the relationship between you and your therapist.
To the extent permitted by law, we exclude all conditions, warranties, representations or other terms which may apply to our site or any content on it, whether express or implied.
We will not be liable to any user for any loss or damage, whether in contract, tort (including negligence), breach of statutory duty, or otherwise, even if foreseeable, arising under or in connection with:
- use of, or inability to use, our site; or
- use of or reliance on any free content displayed on our site.
If you are a business user, please note that in particular, we will not be liable for:
- loss of profits, sales, business, or revenue;
- business interruption;
- loss of anticipated savings;

However, if you are a resident of Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings in Northern Ireland, and if you are a resident of Scotland, you may also bring proceedings in Scotland.
If you are a business, these terms of use, its subject matter and its formation (and any non-contractual disputes or claims) are governed by English law. We both agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
Prohibited uses
You may use our site only for lawful purposes. You may not use our site:

We will do our best to assess any possible risks for users (and in particular, for children) from third parties connected with online services we provide, and we may moderate the relevant service in the light of those risks.
The use of any of our online services by a minor is subject to the consent of their parent or guardian. We advise parents who permit their children to use an interactive service that it is important that they communicate with their children about their safety online.

We will decide in our discretion whether there has been a breach of this acceptable use policy and we reserve the right to take such action as we deem appropriate.
