Anxiety

What is it : Anxiety

Anxiety is an early warning system for potential danger. Adrenaline rushes in to prepare to fight, take flight or freeze.  We need this life-saving response system.

It works well but can malfunction kicking in when unnecessary – we may not be in danger but the story in our head is screaming otherwise. It is noisy and enough to trigger the system.

Common Signs : Anxiety

Anxiety is very common, has many forms and can occur in the most unusual of situations, exactly at the wrong time. You might recognise some of these:

  • Sense of dread
  • Feeling constantly ‘on edge’
  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Difficulty communicating
  • Irritability
  • Constant comparison with others
  • Irregular heartbeat (palpitations)
  • Muscle aches and tension
  • Excessive sweating
  • Sleep problems

Tackling it : Anxiety

As a function of your mind, it needs training to put you back in charge. That’s where we can help.

There are a range of techniques and tools that can help but it also depends on the type of anxiety and how it might get triggered. From breathing to pausing to managing thinking patterns. All have a role in tackling anxiety.
