Purpose

What is it : Purpose

We all have unique skills and experiences. If we can find ways to use them to make a positive impact and shape our lives. That’s when we are living our purpose.

The pressure to achieve coming from different angles can blur what we are here to do. When we are pushed into doing something we can easily miss out on who we truly are and what our purpose is.

Common Signs : Purpose

When we are living in or close to our purpose everything seems to make more sense and is easier. In a relationship context it is when time passes quickly; in a work context it is doing something you are happy doing without getting paid for it.

As with other issues that impact our emotional and mental wellbeing, purpose shows itself most obviously where it is absent. You might recognise some of these:

  • Emotional: feeling unfulfilled, lack of motivation or passion, depression or anxiety, feeling uninspired
  • Physical: chronic fatigue, lack of energy or motivation, physical symptoms of stress
  • Relationships: difficulty connecting with others, feeling lonely or disconnected, difficulty maintaining healthy boundaries
  • Work: feeling unengaged or uninspired by your job, constantly seeking new opportunities, feeling unappreciated or undervalued
  • Mental: difficulty focusing or completing tasks, feeling stuck or stagnant, lack of clarity or direction in life
  • Difficulty in making decisions or setting goals
  • Difficulty finding joy or pleasure in daily activities
  • Difficulty connecting with inner self or our values
